The specification.
328 in the mask, 212 in the collar.
525, 590, 660, and 660 with 850nm — all four on both pieces. Green is the one most masks leave out.
Light output as published by the manufacturer. Mode and measurement distance are not stated.
Two pieces. One controller.
A mask for the face, a collar for the neck and along the jaw. Silicone over an ABS frame, with adjustable straps. The mask weighs half a pound. The collar a little over a third of that.
They run from a single handheld controller with a digital display. Set five, ten, or fifteen minutes and it ends the session on its own. You don't have to watch a clock, and you can't leave it on.
Rechargeable over USB-C, 2000mAh in each piece, about three and a half hours to a full charge. Nothing plugs into the wall while you're wearing it.
Four wavelengths.
Two things separate one light therapy device from another: how many diodes it carries, and which wavelengths those diodes emit.
The count is about coverage. Each LED lights the skin nearest to it, so the more diodes across an area, the shorter the distance from any point of skin to the closest one. There are 540 across the set — 328 on the face, and 212 on the collar, the part most devices leave out of the box altogether.
The wavelength is what changes between the modes. Each is a different colour of light, and each is generally associated with a different concern. The device runs one mode at a time; you choose which.
525nm. The mode most masks leave out. Generally associated with brightening and with calming the look of visible redness — the one to choose when skin is looking flushed or uneven.
590nm. Generally associated with radiance and the look of an even tone. An easy setting for regular use.
660nm. The wavelength most often used in this category for the appearance of firmness and fine lines. A straightforward place to start.
660nm with 850nm. Red paired with a near-infrared wavelength the eye cannot see. Near-infrared is generally associated with the look of firmness and resilience, and it is the setting usually chosen for skin that is maturing or looking tired rather than for one specific concern. Because 850nm is invisible, this mode looks the same as red — nothing is wrong if it appears no brighter.
Why the collar is in the box.
A face mask ends at the jaw. The neck is the first place most people notice they'd like to see a change, and it's the part almost every device in this category sells separately — or not at all.
Buying both from most brands means two purchases, two chargers, and two sessions. CurrentBody's face and neck kit is $799.99. Their mask on its own is $469.99.
One box. One controller. One price.
